Click here for AD's 2001-2002 Column Archives Malik, Bruce and AJ July 22, 2002
I hope you are all having as good a summer as I am! I miss the season but am enjoying time off to spend with friends and
family. I have been working out a lot. In fact this summer, I am working harder than I have in any other. I want to be
ready and am very excited about the season. We have a lot to look forward to!I was so glad to see Malik get resigned. If anyone is known as a hard worker, it is Malik. He definitely deserved that contract and I am very happy for him. He is both an excellent player and a good friend. I look forward playing with him in the future. One of the other important signings for the Spurs was Bruce Bowen. Bruce proved last season that he is a great defensive stopper. We need that on guys like Kobe and McGrady. He has the speed and aggressiveness to keep them under wraps. I’m happy for Bruce and his family and I’m happy for the Spurs to have him! I have been writing you in this column for three years now. I know that you know how much Avery Johnson means to me. He and I talk often and AJ has always been great to me. AJ took the time to stop by my basketball camp this week. He talked and joked with the kids and was just great with them. 150 campers sat and listened to every word he said! I miss him and will always hope the best for AJ and his family. Camp this week has been a blast. The kids have so much energy and enthusiasm it makes it a fun place to be. It has been a long week but I would not have missed it for the world. I’ll get to rest up over the weekend and then it starts all over again next week with twice as many kids! --AD |
