Rotation, respect and a ring by Malik Rose
April 20, 2001

I am feeling good again. It has been a little frustrating this season battling the injury. This was the first time I have had a major injury that has kept me away out of games. It was uncharted territory for me and I am glad it's behind me.

Tom asked me about the rotation change. I respect the decision. We are on a roll right now and have the best record in the league. The team is playing really, really good basketball. I know that the time will come when the team is going to need me. I told Pop and my teammates that I'll be ready when called on. A ring is much more important to me than rotation. I like that "R" word much better!

Ruben commented that the team looks very focused heading in to the playoffs. Our focus has come naturally this year. With the exception of DA and Danny, we have been together the last few years and have been able to stay together mentally. Pop does a good job of keeping us sharp and that is key heading into the post season.

Cheryl asked if I thought we are the deepest team in the NBA. We felt that way two years ago when we won the championship. Everyone was pumping Portland's bench and Indianals bench but we knew that our bench was the deepest. That will prove out again this year. Let other teams keep overlooking us and we'll sneak up on them. We dont mind having to earn our respect.

Antonio is funny. He was giving me a hard time while I was talking to Tom today. He hangs out with Tim so I guess hears a lot. Tim has those big ears and so he hears everything! He and AD are great friends and its funny to see their similarities.

I do want to say something about those bobble head dolls -- they look nothing at all like Tim or Dave! They are about ten shades too dark and that head is huge! I refuse to let them do a Malik bobble head. I want to stick with just a picture of me!

Thanks for all your support and thanks to AD for letting me sit in.
