A Scary Play
December 13, 2000

Sorry I haven't sent a column recently, it has been a very busy schedule for us! Thanks to AJ for filling in for me at Thanksgiving. Now let's talk some hoop.

Last night was a great win for us at Utah. They are always tough and have been playing well all season. Our bench really stepped up when it counted. Wins in Utah's house are hard to come by and this one was big.

We all stopped breathing when Tim went down. That was a very scary play with visions of last year flashing in front of us. Fortunately, there is no damage to his knee as there was last year. He didn't practice with us today but should be back soon. Tim is just now getting his rhythm and getting all the way into shape from his injury. He worked hard in the off-season but it is tough to come back from surgery.

Phoenix is always tough for us. They play a run and gun style, which I like. They have given us some trouble in the past. Seems like they have had our number. We are planning on changing that. Phoenix is just one of many good teams in the West this year. There is no doubt that the balance of power has shifted. Teams like Sacramento, Minnesota and Dallas have stepped up to a level with the past powers LA, Utah, Portland and us. We like that challenge!

Ashley wrote in and commented about Malik's game. He has really come on. He is getting more minutes with Samaki out and is making them count. You can see the effect of the shot doctor he worked with over the summer. I'll get him to take the column in the next couple of weeks and you can hear directly from him.

Any day now well be opening up the AD Gear store. So many of you have asked about it I am excited about getting it off and running.
