Spread the court
November 3, 2000

I am really happy to be here. The Spurs have been a good team in the past and have won a championship. The core of that championship team is still together and healthy. I think that there is a legitimate shot to do that again. This franchise has a lot of character and quality people and I am glad to be apart of it.

When Pop talked to me about coming here it was to be one of the guys that backs up Shawn. From there, it is to fill in wherever I am needed. Obviously we have Malik and Samaki, two guys that they are really happy with in backing up Tim and David. You need as many big bodies as you can get, and while I am not the biggest body I have played a lot of four. Whether I am playing three or four my job will be to spread the court, play with energy and bring movement to the offense. I am not going to be the guy to go in and post up but I will help a lot defensively. I'll try to play some pick and roll and get the ball inside to the big guys where it needs to be.

Jason wrote in and asked how I feel about moving to San Antonio. I have really enjoyed being here. Over the past ten years in the league, I have been here a lot. It has been nice to see the city as a whole. There is so much more to San Antonio than just the riverwalk! My family has enjoyed it and we have had a lot of fun. People have been very friendly and overall it's been a wonderful experience. SA is a very livable and convenient place to live.

This town is very enthusiastic about the Spurs. Coming from Cleveland, which is a great sports town, the Browns or the Indians were the thing. San Antonio is a great sports town too, but it is essentially a one-sport town. That makes being with the Spurs very exciting. The crowd reaction was awesome on opening night.
