for AD's Column ArchivesName That Bench! November 20, 2000 We are a much better team when the bench contributes. We have been doing just that over the last several games. Malik is contributing by bringing his energy and crashing the boards for us. TP, Steve and Danny are contributing with their shooting. As a bench, we are just trying to make things happen. We have been working together as a unit since training camp. The more that we play together the more of a feel we'll have for each others game. A guy on the street stopped me and suggested a name for the bench: Reservoir Dogs (after the movie). I thought that was pretty good. I also like Chaos and Bomb Squad. We can't be the Young Guns because TP, Steve and Danny are not exactly the youngest guns in the NBA! There is a poll on the site for you to vote. Let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions. Brian wrote in and asked me about the teams that have improved the most over last year. We faced two last week, Dallas and Vancouver. They both are much better. But the team has improved the most is us! We have not yet reached our potential. With the addition of Derek and Danny we will be significantly better. Many of you have written in about Gear. It is on the way! Look for it within the next week or so. Next week AJ will sit in for me. Avery always has a lot of good insight.
